EMILIO PUCCI for Formfit Vintage early 60s Silk "Underwear" Scarf Rare

Item: #20372

By Emilio Pucci for Formfit, this scarf features lingerie dating from the 1880s to 1960s. All depictions done in a whimsical, light-hearted fashion.

Two edges of the scarf are hand-rolled; the top and bottom have fabric selvage.
Signed in lower right corner: "Designea for Formfit by Emilio.
Emilio signature in several places on the scarf.

Two tiny pinpricks, both in the lower selvage part of the scarf. A small faint spot, lower left corner, to the left of the "Emilio" signature.

This is a delightful and might I add rare piece for the Pucci collector.

According to Wikipedia:
The Formfit Company was established in 1917 with headquarters in Chicago as a maker of women's "foundation garments" ??? mainly corsets and girdles. It was one of the largest, if not the largest manufacturers of such products in the world. At their Chicago headquarters they had a building a block long and eight stories high which housed manufacturing, shipping and sales. Later they also became known for other types of lingerie, particularly bras and briefs.

They also had facilities in nearby Aurora, Illinois.

In the early 1960s, Formfit merged with Rogers lingerie, to make Formfit-Rogers. In this era, the label enjoyed a renaissance of sorts, producing intimate garments and gowns designed by Italian fashion designer, Emilio Pucci.
